About Kathryn the Grape

Native San Diegan Kathryn Cloward brought her childhood nickname to life in the award-winning Kathryn the Grape series to share mindfully engaging and joyfully uplifting books, songs, and videos children love and adults appreciate. Kathryn has earned over 60 awards for excellence in family-friendly media, including her original music earning multiple National Association of Parenting Products Awards (NAPPA), Family Choice Awards, and Mom's Choice Awards. Kathryn is a Voting Member of the Recording Academy and has been a GRAMMY Awards® balloted artist multiple times.

Through her expansive career as a heart-centered entrepreneur, Kathryn has consistently poured her energy into amplifying issues that help others thrive and inspire goodness. She’s written impact songs for children braving cancer, rare disease awareness, and teen refugees in support of Rady Children's Hospital Auxiliary, National MPS Society, and SAY San Diego. Kathryn was also asked by San Diego’s humble hero Father Joe Carroll (1941–2021) to write a book for him. Dedicating two years of her life in service of sharing his legacy, Kathryn fulfilled his request by writing and publishing two books for Father Joe before his death: Father Joe’s Six Golden Seeds for children and Father Joe: Life Stories of a Hustler Priest for teen and adult audiences.

A dynamic and inclusive performer, Kathryn has shared her original songs on some legendary stages, including headlining multiple times at Belly Up (Solana Beach, CA), opening for ‘80s popstar Tiffany at Whiskey a Go Go (Hollywood, CA), and being featured artist performing at the Troubadour (Hollywood, CA), Nashville Unplugged (Las Vegas, NV), Ramona Mainstage (Ramona, CA), and Hard Rock Cafe (Hollywood, CA). Since July 2023 Kathryn has been rocking her residency at North County Mall at weekly Kathryn the Grape shows and performing regularly for children and families throughout Southern California.
